There is a breed of horse known as the American Paint Horse. These particular horses are recognized by their spotted coats of varying designs. The patterns of the Paint Horse are of three types; Tobiano, Overo and Tovero. They often participate in equestrian and show events like barrel racing, show jumping and other activities displaying their uniqueness.

Speaking of uniqueness, on a recent visit to our friends at the South Florida Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, we were introduced not to an American Paint Horse but to an American Painting Horse that goes by the name of Bis Golden Glory, an off track thoroughbred undergoing rehabilitation. Bis Golden Glory had an oral problem and was often trying to bite. The rehab team at the SFSPCA led by Rachel were able to redirect her use of mouth to a more positive activity and this has led to a latent, artistic talent being discovered.

Bis Golden Glory has been taught to use her bite by clenching a paint stick and has fallen in love with painting on canvas; love at first bite indeed! Bis Golden Glory is now producing works of art on canvas and not surprisingly the art lovers are lining up to buy these masterpieces!

Terrific job by the South Florida SPCA and their training methods that include positive reinforcement of horses that had been given up on and abandoned.
